The Executive Board of the Engineers and Scientists of California Local 20, IFPTE, is excited to welcome Wei-Ling Huber as the new Assistant Executive Director. A lifelong activist for justice, Wei-Ling spent the last 25 years working to improve and expand economic opportunities for East and North Bay hospitality and food service workers during her time as president of UNITE HERE 2850. With her leadership and UNITE HERE 2850’s steadfast commitment to grassroots organizing, leadership development, and direct action, 2850 members have seen substantial gains in membership, working conditions, and compensation.

Under her watch and with much perseverance, workers realized victory during high profile campaigns such as the Woodfin Suites immigrant workers’ fight against wage theft, the two year, seven month, and 21 day long Castlewood Country Club lockout, and the month-long Oakland Marriott City Center strike of 2018 (during which ESC Local 20 members supported UNITE HERE 2850 members on the picket line).

Wei-Ling has watched ESC’s rapid growth over the past ten years with admiration. As the Assistant Executive Director, she is excited to join Local 20’s committed member leaders and talented staff in their efforts to raise contract standards to even greater heights and help more professional workers enjoy the benefits of union membership.

Wei-Ling lives in Contra Costa County with her husband and two teenage daughters. In her spare time, she serves on several boards and can often be found outdoors, enjoying the Bay Area’s many hiking and biking trails.

Please feel free to welcome Wei-Ling at wlhuber@nullifpte20.org as she comes aboard.
